Plan on two hours and fifteen minutes to two hours and forty-five minutes under normal conditions via I-74 East to I-290 East. During weekday morning rush hours east of Elgin — typically 6:30 to 9:00 a.m. — add another 30 to 45 minutes minimum. Winter weather on I-74 between Peoria and Bloomington-Normal can also slow things significantly.
